Dr. Strand Award recipients
| Dr. E.V. Strand was one of Bayport’s and the St. Croix Valley’s outstanding citizens. “A man by nature endowed for the profession of a splendid community physician and surgeon and one who fitted completely into the community where he elected to practice that profession.”
Dr. Strand served as a member of the Troop 113 Committee from 1930 until he passed away November 27, 1943 at the age of 40. He also served as the Chairman of the District Advancement Committee. The character and understanding of Dr. Strand and insight in the needs of the Boy Scout Program were especially outstanding. The Troop Committee believes that this award is the best way to perpetuate the principles and ideals which Dr. Strand represented by putting them into a living program of character building in boys. |

The Dr. Strand Memorial Award is to be presented at the annual Parent-Scout dinner to an outstanding Bayport Scout who qualifies according to the following requirements:
I. Knowledge of Scouting:
First Class Scout earning 18 advancement points in the last year.
Eagle Scout earning 7 advancement points in the last year.
II. Character:
To qualify for the Strand Award, a Scout must live by the Scout Oath
and Law every day in all his activities.
III. Leadership: The award Committee shall confine its consideration of
leadership to Scout activities and the quality of leadership and
natural expression of leadership among Scouts shall be considered
as well as those leadership assignments made by the Scoutmaster.
IV. Service: To qualify for the award, a Scout must be actively engaged
in the functions of the Troop, such as meetings, fund raisers, hikes,
camps and Troop program.
If in the opinion of the Award Committee no Scout meets the minimum requirements for any one year, there shall be no award. The award will never be given to the same Scout more than one year.
