Update: Seabase Crew

All,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to everyone.
We have established the crew, contingent on some scheduling for one of the adults.  We did not have enough interest to form two crews, and there were very limited opportunities for two crews on the same 2018 dates.
Our next meeting will be next Tuesday, 1/9 briefly at 6:00 pm, just prior to the troop meeting, at Bethlehem Lutheran.
The expectation will be for each person to provide a non-refundable deposit of $100 to commit to the trip ( bring a check).  We will still need to lock in which date in June we will register for, so please come familiar with your June 2018 calendar an plans.
I will provide a schedule of preparation activities, payments and other steps we need to take to make this trip awesome.

Scouts and Scouters,

After many years of promising to organize a trip to seabase, I’ve finally gotten off my kiester and am ready to inform and explore interest in this high-adventure.

We will meet on Saturday, December 16 at 1 pm in the Bayport Library. I’ve yet to reserve the room, so watch for a follow up email to confirm the meeting location and time.

There are a couple of deadlines looming, so we will need to gauge interest, form crews, create an account, and be ready to submit for a 2019 adventure by Jan 23, 2018.

Another option would be to register for any remaining open adventures in 2018. I’ll bring information on what is available.

In this first meeting we will review the available 2018 and 2019 adventures and take a poll on what scouts and adults are interested in going.

I’m sure many of you are asking about timing and cost.

Most adventures range from 5 – 7 days and take place in the Florida Keys, Bahamas, St. Croix or St. Thomas. All adventures are open over the summer months and some over spring break and in the fall.

Cost can range from $1,600 to over $2,500 per person, all in (accommodations, food, travel, gear) accept your own spending money, which should be minimal.

I will need some help with getting all the steps completed by Jan 23, so please come ready to volunteer if your interested in going (or even if your not).

All,

We have the start of one Crew based on meeting attendance and those who expressed interest via email.

The consensus of those in attendance was to seek a 2018 Adventure, which left us with a limited selection but there are currently a couple of options in June that would be feasible.

The two adventure options are:

Since we will need to move fast to secure one of these options, we will be meeting briefly Tuesday, 12/20 to discuss which option and what the next steps will be to get moving on them.

Both of the options have a limited crew size of 8. I’ll confirm with the troop council on the best way to arrive at the crew selection and ensure that we will be able to maintain the appropriate adult to scouts ratio’s.

2017 Troop 113 Slideshow

Good evening,

Again this year, I will be putting together the troop slideshow for the Court of Honor at Christmas Camp.  If you have photos from any of our troop meetings and/or events that you would like to have included, please find a way to get them to me in the next week.  I will be at the troop meeting on November 21st if you would like me to make copies from a flash drive or phone.

Pumpkin picking

Hi All,
Sorry, I keep forgetting to get this email out.  Pumpkin picking will be this Friday 9-29 at 6:00pm.  We will be picking from the patch on the South/West corner of 30th St and Manning Ave across from the airport.  I should have a big enough trailer to handle all the pumpkins, just need some strong backs.

Fall Camporee Drivers

Troop 113 Parents,

We need one more adult to attend the Fall Camporee on October 6th -8th.  Please reply to Joe or me by Monday, October 2nd if you can attend.  Without a volunteer, we will have to cancel the outing.

Glacier Drivers

We have enough drivers to get the Troop to and from the train station for the Glacier trip!  Thank you to our driver volunteers.

The following parents will be transporting us to the station tomorrow evening:

Any other parents are welcome to either ride along (if there is an empty seat) or drive to the station to see the Troop off at the depot.

My suggested route of travel to the St. Paul Union Depot is to travel south on Highway 95 to Interstate 94 West.  Take I-94 West to the 6th Street exit as you enter downtown St. Paul – the exit is from the left lane.   Take 6th Street to Jackson Street and turn left (south) on Jackson Street.  Take Jackson Street to Kellogg Boulevard and turn left (east) on Kellogg Boulevard.  The Union Depot is 2 blocks east on Kellogg Boulevard on the right (south) side of the street.  There is a drop-off lane in front of the depot.  If you would prefer to park and go in to the depot, there is a parking ramp or surface lot just east of the drop-off lane.

When we return to St. Paul on the morning of July 17th, the following parents will be transporting us from the Union Depot to the Scout Building:

I would suggest that these drivers first confirm the anticipated arrival time of the train on the Amtrak website (www.amtrak.com) and all meet at the Scout Building that morning to caravan to the Union Depot together.  You can either park in the lot on Kellogg Boulevard immediately east of the depot or in the short-term pick up lane on Kellogg Boulevard (15 minute maximum).  You will need to notify either Joe (***-***-****) or Chris (***-***-****) where to meet you once the Troop gets off the train.  We will all meet back at the Scout Building to unload the van and trailer before heading home.
